WHat is a paint corection?
Paint correction is the process of removing surface imperfections like swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and water spots from a vehicle’s clear coat to restore its original shine and clarity. It involves using machine and hand polishing to shave a microscopic layer off the clear coat, making it smooth and reflective. The process can range from a single-step polish for light defects to a multi-step process with compounds for more severe damage.
WHat iT FIXES:
Swirl marks from improper washing
Light scratches
Water spots
Oxidation, which causes a dull or hazy appearance
Scuffs and spider webbing
How it works:
Removes material: Paint correction works by removing a tiny amount of the clear coat to remove defects.
Uses polishing compounds and pads: It uses specialized compounds and polishing pads, often with a machine polisher, to abrade the surface.
Can be one or multiple steps:
One step correction: A single-stage process to fix minor imperfections.
Two-step correction: a more aggressive process that uses a heavy-cutting compound to remove defects, followed by a finer polish to refine the finish and remove any hazing left by the first step.
